Rugging

Can someone answer a question.
Its is raining and is forcasted to shower for the next few days.
My horse has rain scald, should I rug him with a waterproof coat or will him sweating be worse for his condition? Or should I just rug him with a cotton rug or no rug at all??

Rug if you think he will be cold, not for the rainscald. Rainscald will clear but rugging in my experience tends to make it worse.

If you aren't worried about him being cold, it would be best to leave him un-rugged so that his skin can breath and possibly dry out between showers. Him getting sweaty and damp under a rug and having it sit would just make him more uncomfortable.

Uncovered is always best for the skin.
