The Immaculate Conception aka Jumping Cow Instead of hijacking that other thread. Here is the Immaculate Jumping Cow! I got Baby at about 3 days old from my Uncle's farm. She was too small to nurse and the mother cow and my Uncle didn't have the patience to take the extra time with her. This was the one and only cow we ever had. She was raised with a rabbit and then the horses. The vet would comment on how fat she was, never thinking she was bred. Apparently, she squeezed through our electric fence, jumped the neighbors fence and them came back without us knowing she was missing. Meaning, this girl is more food motivated than nooky motivated. You can see her son "Bo" behind her. We had no problems figuring out who Dad was. He is much larger than she is. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...97C8EEF60A.jpg I clicker/target trained her. It makes dealing with a cow a lot easier. She leads, loads, ties, bathes, picks up front feet, and you can sit on her back. I could probably teach her to ride fairly easily. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...97D96914C3.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...97F7824B62.jpg |

Glad it all worked out though. |
Haha, yea more like stretched the wire. We had to add another post in between posts so she couldn't stretch the wire. You can see the spacing in the picture. I just wanted to share her picture and her story. Thought it would be a good start to the weekend :) |
Cows will be cows! We had a couple calves from cows and/or bulls jumping the fence. One little Jersey/angus bull jumped a 4 1/2 foot fence from a standstill to get to the Holstien/Jersey cow. He jumped between the barn and the gate post, no more than a 3 foot wide 'opening'. You're cow is pretty cute! |
Oh my, she looks like a sweetheart! How cute. Yes, cows WILL be cows. I can't get enough of her, she's just too cute. Love the face in the first picture! |
So cute! I love cows. We've got oodles of dairy cows where I am. I always wanted a riding cow! I wonder if someone put the same effort into training a cow, as a horse, how well a cow could perform the things we do with horses. Like, would you find a cow that is good at dressage, barrels, or would they be good animals to start young riders on? I think it's all fascinating. You should definitely formally break your cow for riding. I know I'd be watching that with interest!! |
Clicker training a cow ! we need some video's of that! |

What you may not realize is, a cows personality is a lot like a cat. Can they be trained to do stuff? Sure they can. Do they want you to train them to do things? Not really. They would prefer you to dote on them while they chewed their cud and licked the inside of their nostrils. They are also about as athletic as Basset Hounds. It would be like training a cat-donkey. Lots of bribes! There is a video of a cow who jumps under saddle on Youtube. I will have to get a video of her and the clicker. Maybe I can find an activity to train her for video. What would you everyone like to see? |
theres a video onyoutube of a girl jumping her cow is that you |
Haha, I wish! I believe the girl is from Europe. |
