I took new pictures of Kaja. I've had her for 3 months so far and she's gained quite a bit of weight (still quite a ways to go though).
Last night, she met some new friends who were happy to give her all sorts of cuddles. She also recently discovered the world of treats and harassed them for all the treats she could get.
She also got her first lesson in saddling. First with my roommate's dressage saddle and second with my barrel saddle. She wasn't entire sure about tightening the girth, but got over it right away. I couldn't cinch up mine because my cinch is 34" and she is nowhere near that big.
I only used a blanket because my ESP pad is bigger than she is and I didn't want to try the TackyToo one on her for the first time with how long her hair is and risk it pulling her hair and her spooking. Unfortunately, my saddle is wayy too big for her, but she is lacking any sort of back at all still.
Braided forelocks are much neater looking. And a bridle! (Roommate's, not mine. I don't actually own a bit..)
Roommate braided her tail too and was jealous that my horses have such thick tails.
We love horse butts.
Since she was so uncaring about the shenanigans going on around her, this impromptu ride happened. Nothing special, we just laid across her to see if we'd get a reaction. Nope, so I swung my leg around and had my roommate lead her.
She did have one small blowup. The heaters were on and she spooked at them and bolted. Roommate got her hand ropeburned so she let go and apparently I just grabbd her leadrope before it could fall because it was suddenly in my hand. Kaja learned from when we were still working on lunging that "KAJAHO" is one word and she needs to stop immediately. She slowed down as soon as I yelled and turned, so I slid off to completely stop her. Hopped back on and walked to the door so we could end on a good note.
I don't plan on doing it again until she's had a ton more groundwork, but I'm excited for when she's that far and I can start riding her. I don't even care if she grows past 12.3hh because she was fun to sit on.
She is so cute! I am sorry but I kinda giggled about the KAJAHO! She is a Fjord right?
Haha, those pictures are great! What a cutie you have! I'm glad things are going well.
Nice pictures!! She's so fluffy. :)
Also, I've never seen such enthusiastic-looking guys around horses. Cool.
They're not very horsey. They just thought she was adorable and little. They also just enjoy obnoxious pictures.

That's just way too much fluffy cute right there! She looks so sweet & innocent, a great counterpart for Abby pissy face
 She is much friendlier than Abby's crabby self and wayy more accepting of cuddles, which is good because it would be difficult to not cuddle with that much fluff. I am curious to know what she'll look like when she's shed. She's still really underweight so the fluff makes her look a lot better than she feels.
