Ruby.. and some other questions
As many of you have seen I bought a new horse. Her name is Ruby, she is from a breeding operation gone wrong. I got corrected on some of my info... So here goes a new post of her.
Turns out she wasn't headed for the auction after all. It was straight to the meat man for these babies.
Also she isn't bred to the nice black and white overo stud, that's her sire.
First off the gal told the rescue that she is full sister to Bullet who is out of a Morgan mare and from the blk/wht overo. But when asked if Ruby is half Morgan, the gal said that she and Bullet have different dams. None of us are entirely sure how they can be full bro/sis then... LOL! The story got messed up more and more, as to who were full siblings and who were half siblings... Someone on here said that she looked Morgan. Tell me what you think.
Ruby, 4 years old.
She did get a bit banged up in the trailer... but as far as I know she is doing better...
She was in with two, 2 year old stallions... Possibly bred for an Oct foal.
Bullet, her full brother, was the last foal from the Morgan mare.
and Flash, her half brother, (from the blk/wht overo and out of an Appy mare)
The gal at the rescue says that Ruby, in build, looks a lot like two of the other horses that are for sure out of the Morgan mare.
The vet was out on Friday, all the horses got their coggins, health test, and most were dewormed. He didn't preg check cause a couple of the horses were freaking out and causing the other horses to get worked up.
I have a few more questions... I am planning on getting Ruby broke in 2014 or 2015. With her build what do you think she would be good for? I am interested in going into english style and there is a lady not far from here that teaches dressage and jumping (a rare, rare, find in SK). I am hopefully going to be taking some more lessons from this gal come spring. Am I better off keeping Ruby as a pleasure horse and working with my 13 year old gelding as a english horse? Or forget about using either of them for dressage or jumping. I can post pics of Coyote if needed. This gal that does the lessons also has a Andalusian stallion and is breeding sport-horses. She has QH, Arabian, Arab/Percheron, Andalusian, QH/Andalusian, Fjord, Swiss Warmblood, and Canadian Warmblood mares that she crosses with her stallion.
I am batting around ideas. I just need to know what is totally out of the question.
id personally get her checked for pregnancy. then you can know what to feed her and also how to take extra care. shes pretty :) i think for lower levels shed do fine. anybody can do lower level english but if you wanna go into upper levels you need a horse thats built for it. but id say go for it if you want too.

I don't see the Morgan...but she is cute!!
I do plan on getting her preg checked... if not at the rescue then when she gets home in March. The gal at the rescue says that she looks to be 14.2 at the most... Perhaps she'll grow a bit with better feed.
