Cage diving with Great White Sharks - photos!
Over the Australia Day long weekend, myself and my partner, along with some of our friends, went on a 9 hour 'road trip' to "the shark capital of the world" - Port Lincoln, South Australia, to go and dive with Great White Sharks.
What else can I say but - amazing. These are just the most magnificent creatures, sitting in a flimsy aluminium cage, just a fingertip away from being able to touch the as they glide through the water all around you, is the most awe inspiring experience. We were lucky enough to spend time with 7 different great whites throughout the day, ranging from 4-5.5m long. The longest shark recorded by this particular charter vessel was 6.5m long, which is longer than the width of the boat carrying 50 people
The first photo's are my own, and those with the 'cage diving' logo are those taken by the company on our dive, which I have purchased.

A set of Great White's jaws, now worth AU$25,000.00, due to these sharks now being a protected species - hunting them is illegal.
Our cage, a few pieces of aluminium between 6 of us and 7 hungry Great White Sharks!
Katy that cage looks more like dental floss than a barrier,
glad you had fun it is something I will never do.
I cant swim , hate being wet, and can see all the sharks I ever want to on TV. Shalom
You're braver than me!!! Looks like you had fun!!
I must admit, I did hold my breath a few times when the sharks banged into the cage a few times! But it really was a wonderful experience, gives one a whole new appreciation for these incredible predators.

(wonder what that company's insurance premiums are?)
They would be enormous, we had to sign page after page of waiver before we could get into the water - understandably!!
That's awesome Kayty! Did you bring us back a new pet?
*the water (and knowing it is warm there) makes me so ready for our spring break vacation*
Gives me a whole new appreciation for life!! Lol!
Awesome! This is has been on my bucket list for a while now. Looks like a great thrill
I certainly did Mandy, his name is Barry (Baz, as his fellow Ausie's call him) and he's a 6 foot long great white - said he was keen for a new career ;)
