Human Leukemia and theraputic riding I am wondering if a.) there is already a thread somewhere that talks about this b.) if anyone knows of any studies that make a corelation between humans with leukemia having lower white blood cell counts when around horses opposed to those that are not around horses. And where I might be able to read more about this. Does that make sense? |
Strawberry, I am not aware of any studies like this but will check/ask around. This is not scientific, but purely anecdotal- I believe that post-bone marrow transfusion related to his leukemia, one of our good friends was not allowed to be around any animals, dusty conditions, dirt, allergens, etc. Again- I don't want to make a blanket statement, and would guess that people in different stages of treatment would get different advisement from their doctor. Probably best to start with the doctor. |
I have leukemia and have not seen any coorelation between horses and white cell count. The stable environment can be unhealthy to a cancer patient so care must be taken. |
