Trainer says I have a funny bad habit?
So when posting unconsciously ill sit a step and then be off the right diagonal. My trainer is always yelling at me for it but I dont even realize im doing it! haha
Any tips to kick this habit? We think it may be because of my western contesting training with a different trainer who had me post and then sit my trot for like a step around the barrel and so forth. Now I do it whenever I go to turn my horse or go into a corner. Weird right? Any tips?

Just imagine and tell yourself until you believe it that EVERYTIME you're on the wrong diagonal you will hurt your horse:lol:

Check your diagonal regularly, and learn to feel when you are on the 'wrong' diagonal. You should be rising with the outside shoulder, so look down at the shoulders and check if you can't feel it. Every time you go into a corner, focus on yourself for a moment rather than your horse, and remind yourself to keep rising.

If I remember correctly, you are the young lady who also had some trouble with legs out front, right? and that was due to the saddle size/fit. I would not worry too much about it. It's a small habit and you'll rebuild body memory. If I were your instructor I would certainly not yell at you regarding diagonals. They only really matter if you are going in a circle. and even then, it doesn't really hurt the hrose. it just makse it easier for them if you are on the correct diagonal on a curve. on a straightaway, it makes not a whit of difference.
There is so much that is more important than having the correct posting diagonal, IMO.
