A friend of mine is an aspiring Appaloosa breeder. On her Facebook page she held a contest, in which the winner receives a free 8x11" colored pencil portrait commission from me.
And wouldn't you know it, I get a buckskin near-leopard Appy filly... Haha! The owner has asked for a collage, as well as if I could fit in their deceased pet Pygmy goat, Baby Girl. She gave me some references (and I also have plenty of my own), and this is the first draft. Pending approval. (First is the owner's image of the filly.)
This topic is so you can all follow the progress on this, my first commission of the new year (and in nearly 2 years)! This is also my very first equine commission! :happydance:
This whole sketch took around 4 minutes to complete. I intend to change the two baby pictures around a little bit, as well as make the main focus (the conformation picture, per request) larger & play with the sizes of the other components, as well.
Ooh cant wait to see the final drawing! I like the layout of it.
I've got a collage type portrait to start on as well soon. A gorgeous little arab show horse, baby photos plus some show photos, 4 all up. Could be fun but it's going to be a big job.
I look forward to seeing how you approach this one :)
The commissioner loves the draft -- so let the work begin! :)
Oh that filly is gorgeous. Wow.
