Perfect trail/all around saddle?
What type of saddle (western/english) would be the perfect all rounder? Meaning, you can ride any discipline, including trails where you occasionally have to jump? Is there a western saddle in which you can clear small jumps without having the horn stuck in your stomach? Thanks.
Western Rawhide is my favorite brand of western saddle. Australian stock saddles are great too, you can get them with or without a horn. I am not a fan of trail riding in an english saddle.
I love Western Rawhide but they don't sell in the states! :( What is your price range? I will help you look for a good saddle if you would like!
Thank you! Yes, well, since i don't have a horse yet ( :( ) I can't really tell you the exact measurements. I will probably end up having a western and an english saddle, since I do ride both. What I look for is comfort for both horse and rider, durability, fairly easy maintenance, quality and fairly light-weight (can be a little heavier, but I should still be able to lift it ;) ). I love trail riding, so a saddle for trails that can also allow for some small jumps (you never know when a log decides to block your way...). I do really like western saddles. They should have one with an attachable horn
As far as price goes, I don't have a range right now (any range I would give my husband might differ from ;) ). I want a quality saddle, but I also don't won't to pay for overprized equipment. In the 500 would be a great medium, but I am willing to consider more (and less ;) ).
So if you can just name a good saddle and saddle brand and good retailers that would help, so I know what to look for once I get the horse :)
I dont know what seat size you are, but I'm selling an Ovation Close Contact 16.5" medium tree saddle (irons, leathers and a 52" leather girth with elastic on one side and the ovation red fleece saddle cover is all included)
I'm currently selling it for $700 but will take offers on it.
Get an endurance-style saddle. No horn to worry about and usually super comfy for horse & rider as long as it is the correct size for both.
Purchase your horse FIRST... then we can talk saddles!
I am not planning on buying a saddle before i buy a horse, just find out what type to get once I get my horse. I like thinking about that before hand.
I love my tucker. I've taken jumps with it, and it's super comfortable.
I've shown in it, pleasure rode in it, trail rode in it, etc. It's the love of my life lolol
