Thrift stores and handcuffs!
So I usually go grocery shopping on Mondays. I did today as usual and stopped at a thrift store on my way home with my 14yo daughter and my 5yo son.
As I was checking out (with some killer picture frames :P ) Eli, my son, comes up to me and is tugging on the back of my shirt. I spin around to see him HANDCUFFED! I couldn't help but to laugh after I told him to quit touching stuff like 100 times today.
After a chuckle or two I go to let him out of the handcuffs. NOPE! They weren't the kind with a safety latch!
The gal at the counter then calls one of the men volounteers who jiggles the cuffs for a little while. I assure them that it's OK, I have a key at home.
The gal then proceeds to CHARGE me for the handcuffs!!!! I couldn't believe it!!! I had to pay fifty cents for a pair of handcuffs!!! LMAO. Life with Eli has NEVER been boring. I'm just glad that he didn't decide to attach the other cuff to anything besides himself!
LMAO i cant believe she charged you for the handcuffs! thats so rude! atleast it was only 50 cents
Thanks for the giggles  You might want to handcuff him to you next time you go shopping lol
Why would you sell rel handcuffs to a thrift store? Would be curious to know the story behind where they came from. I wouldnt be selling those back, just get rid of them.
Ridiculous on the store's part to have sold those to you. Glad to hear you are the type of person to have a jiggle  won't be something you won't forget for a long time :D
Why? It was an oopsie to be sure, but somebody left the store with an item. It must be purchased. It's the same - you break it, you bought it principle.
That's just life with kids... ya gotta roll with it.
I agree Dash! I have bought broken coffee mugs, and other assorted items my son has "pillaged" whist out shopping.
He is a bit like taking a bull to a china shop. He's really not all that bad...He listens and knows to not touch in the "good" stores. Thrift shops are the one store I can let him look and feel and get his curiosities out. Who woulda thunk that they had a set of "real" handcuffs in the toy bin? It was a simple mistake. I thought the whole ordeal was kinda funny. I know I have donated toys that didn't exactly work right to thrift stores before. I'm sure that no one knew that they didn't unlock without a key.
Overall it was just funny...heck, 50 cents is a small price to pay for this kind of fun! Life with kids is never boring!!!
LOL, that's crazy! Personally, I loooove thrift stores. :)
My mom would have been so embarrassed if that happened
to me or my brother when we was young, loL!
You would not sue a hospital if a needle was left out, and you were accidently stabbed because of it, not be an issue?
What about you buying a vehicle and that were to blow up and kill your best friend in the front seat, all because of a major error in engine building?
"Oh well, I used it, or I went there, or I bought so its to bad for me.."
remind me to never go the states, or a thrift stores for that matter.
I go into thrift stores every so often to look at house wares and such. I never buy clothes there tho.
The things people will give away. Like for example, PANTIES!!!! Why would anyone give away panties? lol
