Hi! I had a quick question about blanket rubs- my 12 year old thoroughbred gelding has developed a blanket rub on his upper left shoulder. He has a new blanket that doesn't rub now, but I just want the hair to grow back on this rub! I'm not super concerned about how it looks, it just bugs me a little and I was wondering if anything could be done. Thanks!
You can't really do anything but let it grow out. Getting him a shoulder protector might be good, or leaving him without if he can handle it. Both of those would stop your new one from rubbing, even if it doesn't rub much it might slow down the growth.
My old mare got blanket rubs really easily. They weren't that pretty, but didn't affect her otherwise.
