Dial fit helmet

I have an Ovation Competitor (?) helmet and it has a dial fit. It feels extremely uncomfortable and insecure because i'm in between two notches. I also rode in another dial fit that gave me a headache. One notch feels extremely loose, the next squeezes me to the point of a headache. Am i doing something wrong or is my head just shaped odd? I don't use it for shows anymore as it hurts worse with my hairnet. Are other riders having these problems as well?

yeh that why i dont buy them, they kinda blow, Look at the IRH or Tippery line that are just sized to fit like a normal hat and dont have any gadget adjustaharness.

I got an IRH Elite Extreme for Christmas actually and i havent ridden in it yet because its for shows and my show today was cancelled. I got my hair cut today and i need to get a smaller size but i am a hunter rider and can't use tipperary helmets. I use the ovation for schooling only and have it on the looser dial ( i know it's unsafe but i must otherwise I can barely ride). Thanks for the comment! I just wanted to make sure i wasnt crazy or anything :) happy riding:)

Can you put a helmet cover on your IRH and use it? It makes no sense to have a nice helmet for showing if your heads been busted from falling in an ill-fitted one. It's better to risk a fall in a good helmet (risk braking said helmet) than it is to risk a fall in a badly fitted helmet and risk breaking your noggin.

if you like the IRH elite, look at an IRH trail lite, shaped the same but way cheaper and no dial stuff. You could use that for training save the elite for shows.

I have another helmet that i have for schooling that the clamp is broke on so i don't use it much but i just wanted to know if anyone had the same problem as me. And its not really in our budget to get another helmet as i dont work yet.

I agree and we are only doing schooling shows because my horse still doesn't have his left lead yet and i can use the irh without a
over for a while. The ovation isn't that loose, just not snug so i'm okay.

It must be just the brand of helmet because i got a troxel spirit helmet with gps dial fit and it is really nice.
