Bitless Bridle?
I'm considering trying out a bitless bridle on my boy. He's definitely strong, but gets ticked off if I'm always pulling on his mouth. Sometimes when jumping, he'll take a long distance and ill accidentally yank him in the mouth and feel guilty for this. In addition, I'm thinking a bitless bridle would make rides more enjoyable for him.

I'm not sure i want a hackamore, as I've heard they can be harsh on a horse if not used correctly. So does anyone have experience with just basic bitless bridles? Do you know of they're alowed in dressage and can they be succesfully used on a stronger horse?

They can be harsh, can be mild depends how tight/loose, what curb, what shanks, how you use your hands!

On my mare I use one with a leather curb.. stopped her from bolting. and shes really light in it and holds herself. Same for my mums horse (works better than a bit which she leant on)

My gelding 'works' better in a bit when schooling but likes a hackamore to for hacking. (his half half chain half leather curb) he isnt strong just responds better than with a leather one.

I'd recommend them :) not too keen on the german version as they have realllyyyy long shanks and tend to have chain curb but theyre easily changable

(oh and i dont do mine up too tight as if theyre too tight then they become harsh as one tiny movement with your hand they get strong pressure everywhere so best kept so can fit one finger under.. well for mine anyway! depends on the horse)

I tried a bitless bridal, an indian hackamore - didn't work out too well......
