Thoughts on this saddle? Ok, so I want to show Aires this summer, but the more I think about it, the more I realize that we won't be ready to show English. So, I'm toying with the idea of buying an inexpensive western saddle to show in. I found this one on Craigslist. Thoughts on it? http://prescott.craigslist.org/grd/3604033515.html Our colors are black and red, so I'd get a black and red saddle pad and red SMBs. Posted via Mobile Device |
What type of western showing will you do? A lot of WP/horsemanship shows don't allow boots in the ring. At first glance the saddle doesn't look bad but I'm not a fan of those kind of fenders. Very cheaply attached. Posted via Mobile Device |

Is the way the fenders attach something I could get my local tack guy to fix/change? Posted via Mobile Device |
I like this saddle pad. Horse Tack Assorted I really like this one. Western Saddle Pad Posted via Mobile Device |
the second pad is of MUCH better quality than the first. Dont' get too busy. I might consider a nearly solid red pad. Especially since your horse has moderatlye busy markings, too. |
That's true, tiny. I hadn't thought of that. What do you think of the saddle in my first post? When Aires was being broke, the pad we always used on him was an Air Ride like the second one. I loved it! So, something closer to this pad (the first red one): http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=140918729846&index=2&nav=SEARCH&ni d=70189090632 Posted via Mobile Device |
I don't really like that saddle. Just from the one picture, the rigging looks incredibly cheap/dinky. I'd demand more pictures from every angle but just from the way it looks, I'd venture a guess that it's very poorly made with subpar materials. Also, I wouldn't look any farther at that first saddle pad either. You can buy those new from the store for $25 or less. I like the second much better. |
Meh. Lol I'm gonna have to go to Four Shoes on Saturday and see what they have. They're my favorite tack consignment store (out of the two we have) and where I got my Aussie saddle. I also reached a feeler out to a friend of mine who works at an Arab show barn down in Phoenix. Being on a budget sucks. As does having to buy a new car. *sigh* Posted via Mobile Device |
I hear you. |
