Should I have a chiropractor out?
A few months ago I was going to have a chiropractor out for my horse but was talked out of it by a friend. But recently I've been noticing things that people say chiropractors can fix. He pins his ears while putting the saddle on and moving it or the pad but doesn't mind the cinch. He's sensitive to brushing on his withers and shoulder area. flinches when water hits his back the first time. Not super flexible when flexing left and right. He's never liked to be saddled or flexible but it's just getting worse. Should I get a chiropractor out or would it make it worse? I'm already looking for a new saddle to fit him better. :? Please help!
I've never been one of those "freaks" that uses supplements, chiropractors, magnets, etc... but with my youngest horse... I have become one of those "freaks"....
I have had the chiro out twice now and my horse truly enjoys it. He lowers his head and groans... he even scoots his body over to show the vet where he needs adjustment so I personally don't think it would hurt....
Sounds like he could use an adjustment. Just be sure to find a reputable one. A good chiropractor will also be able to give you rough idea of your saddles fit.,

Thanks! I'll hopefully have him done soon. Excited to see if it works for him! (:
I would definitely give a chiropractor a try. Each horse is different, some respond better to massage, some to chiro. My mare felt like a totally different horse after her first chiro treatment, but massage didn't really do anything for her. Looking for a new saddle sounds like a good idea, make sure you get someone knowledgeable in saddle fitting to check it out as well before you buy.
