Mare on heat troubles!
Okay, So my mare is on heat and ive been asked to go for a beach ride with a few other people in 3 days, Im a little worried that she is going to play up and go crazy (Rode her today on heat in the paddock and only done a cow kick and didnt want to listen to my hands as much) I tend to worry about to much and panick myself haha :-| But i would just like to know if other people would still go for this beach ride while the mares on heat? I would love to go because ive never been on one, but others peoples opinions would be great!

As long as you can control your horse, I don't see why not. I have had my mares for 10 years and 3 years (mare and foal.) I can't tell when either of them are IN heat, never have been able to. At least not while I'm working with them anyway. Your probably thinking too much into it and giving your horse an excuse to misbehave. But then again, some mares truly are witchey while IN heat.

I'd go! But when I had mares, they were expected to behave themselves in heat or not. I never had one that misbehaved because they were in heat. I might have been lucky in the fact that none of my mares really displayed "in heat" behavior. I mean I could tell usually just because I knew my mares. But they weren't overly witchy.
