What to ask for a lightly used, well taken care of HDR saddle?
Even though the saddle has a lot of sentimental value for me, I've decided to try selling it (along with the matching stirrup leathers, irons and girth) because I'd like to buy my dog a good quality joint supplement before we get into flyball, and I know I won't have a use for it for the next few years... at least, and by that time, I'll likely buy a high quality, new saddle.
Details about the saddle:
Bought new from my instructor's tack shop, and as far as I know, the initial price was $700.00. The stirrup leathers and girth combined were about $100.00 and the irons were maybe $25.00 or $30.00. It is a Henri de Rivel Close Contact saddle, a newer model, oakbark in colour (stirrup leathers and girth are the same brand and colour). It got two months of regular use, as well as a weekly cleaning and conditioning so it's in pretty good condition. Girth and stirrup leathers were also cleaned and conditioned.
I'd also be throwing in the unused HDR saddle cover, as I had been using a turquoise zebra print cover for the duration of its use and it is currently being stored downstairs with the cover. I'd definitely clean it and condition it before selling it, and I'll likely include the remainder of my tack cleaning supplies as well.
I traded my HDR in on an M Toullouse and I think they gave me $450 on a trade in value. It was REALLY well taken care of though....
Thank you! That's a bit better than I thought! It must vary a little bit by area and demand though, so I'd be happy to even get $400 from it, maybe a little bit more if they wanted the whole package. I was always a stickler about dust and dirt on it simply because it was my first official saddle and I'm a perfectionist about that stuff!
I'll have to try and get some pictures this weekend to put up an ad and take offers.
What model is it? Pro, advantage, club ect.? I believe their is a very big price difference depending on model, best thing to do is look on ebay and see what the same saddle has sold for.
