Howrse :( (bit of a grumble)

I only recently joined the online game Howrse and was shocked to discover the amount of money you had to shell out if you wanted to progress!

I have no money and don't want to waste it on a game anyway, so I deleted the account :-(.

Everything in the game costs passes, which you buy with real money, from special coat colours to backgrounds to even just being allowed to change you horses' names . I don't mind subscribing or just being told at the start to pay x amount to play, I would have done that, but sneakily forcing you to pay for things is not on in my book! I won't support people who do it, either.

Club Penguin (all those years, haven't been on in ages) gets you to become a member and you have access to everything, and I actually was allowed to become a member one year as a Christmas present. That way you know exactly how much you're paying, but you only really buy a couple of passes at a time so it's hard to work out exactly how much you've spent. Not to mention that once you progress, you want to keep going more and more so you pay more. Clever marketing, but immoral in my opinion.

So for people thinking of joining Howrse, if you want to do well at all, you're going to need quite a bit of real money to play too.

Rant over.

I've never spent a penny on Howrse.. I've been on it for 15 months and am ranked.

Yes, I get frustrated that it is so much easier for those that shell out the money ...BUT if you are patient and smart, you can be successful at that game ...

I don't compare myself to others so much as just try to acheive my goals..

Oh, and passes can be acquired through time and e ... also by breeding good horses and selling them. Just like in real life, you can't be successful with this game overnight ...

Sorry you weren't happy...

Hmmm.... I didn't realise that! Maybe I'll go re-activate... Is it just slow to start?

You have to be wise with your e spending .. you can buy a pass every 30 days .. there are always games you can participate in that win you free prizes and stuff that normally cost passes ..

It just takes some time..

I'm Charming Acres on there if you want to look me up..

It is incredibly slow to start.

I have played the game off and on over the years and never spent a dime in it. I also have had several different coats, backgrounds, all the extra stuff.

After awhile you can get good at trading black market items and selling horses and every so many days you can spend the howrse money for passes. They add up slowly.

I actually find it easier to get passes now then a few years ago. All the extra games they have off and on now really help gather up items.

There's ways around it. I've never spent any money on ur but I've got a very very good game going

And off I go to start back up again! I'll stick with it until I get a little more seniority I suppose. Thanks for showing me it's possible, guys!

Theres a game called Horse Eden Eventing its kinda like howrse. But kinda not. I think its a lot better because you don'tneed money to prigress, only if you want to buy arenas, bigger barns, etc.
