I have a question on a bit that one of the ladies at the barn owns. She doesn't know what it is and I haven't seen anything like it before. It is a O-ring snaffle but then has an extra set of "O's" that are around the mouth piece. The O's move and could go into the horses mouth. I would be interested in any information.

are the extra O's around the area that a shank would be? If so it could be a double rein bit so that it is meant for two reins for driving.

Thanks for the reply Jr_lover. But no--the extra set of rings are loose and slide over the mouthpiece. The original O rings are attached to the end of the bar's in the snaffle--just like normal but then it has the extra ones that are the same size just loose on the mouthpiece. Strangest bit I have ever seen but I am sure there must be a purpose for it. I will try to remember to take a picture of it next time I go to the barn.

Can you get a picture? I have three different bits in mind that match your description. I'd really like to know now, though!

No--still not right. I know it's hard to tell unless you actually see it. Try to envision a regular O ring snaffle. Then just add another set of rings but leave them loose on the mouthpiece. They are honestly the same size as the O rings that are attached to the mouthpiece.
I really appreciate all the help. I have tried googling and haven't had any success. I get so many tack catalogs and have NEVER seen it in any. I will definitely take a picture of it when I go to the barn!
