How big do you think he'll be?
I have a pmu baby that is a Percheron/TB cross. Daddy (Blue boy, ranch 1) was 17.2 supposedly and his momma is a bit smaller at 16.1. He is currently 5 months, 1 week and he tapes at 14.2ish, but is very butt high. Can anyone tell me how big they think he'll get?

He will be gelded next month and is being weaned this weekend. Here's a pic of him in July...

hmm...i think he will get as big as his daddy...hes fairly tall already, so yeah i think he could be 17 hands +!!! :D

Excellent choice on your part. Love PMU foals because of the draft crosses. The problem with them tho is you really never know how tall they are going to get. Both the sire and dam of my mare were 16.2hh. At a year and a half, my filly is standing just shy of 16 hands now  No doubt in my mind she will be probably closer to the 17 hands when finished

You have a lovely baby. Keep us posted on his growth, love to see how this little tank develops :D

I would say he would be closer to 17hh then 16hh. I mean he's pushing 15hh already and he's only a six months old!

I would love to see some update pictuers of him!

Don't worry my boy is standing at about that at the same age.

My colt is from Ranch 1 too and we think Blue Boy is his daddy. He was 14.3 at 11 mos. old and he's now around 18 hds. at 4 yrs. old. His mother looks like she's a quarterhorse or TB. Not sure how tall she was. Sounds like your colt is going to be big!! Here's my boy:

Congratulations on your new baby!! What are you going to call him?

take a string that will not stretch an measure from the middle of his knee to his cornary band and if you get 17.5'' then he will be about 17.2hh...if it measures 18'' then he will be about 18hh....try it! it worked on all of my horses.

The string test doesn't work on most drafts. It had my horse shrinking.
