Girths without rollers

The billets on my new saddle are leather, and the girth I use doesn't have rollers on it.
I really don't want to get a new girth because it matches so well and is just really cool looking, so does anyone have tips?

Should I clean the billets often and be super careful when tightening the girth? I don't want to ruin the billets. Thanks!

*shocked* they still make girths without rollers??? Personally, I'd get a new girth with rollers and sell that girth... I wouldn't want to ruin my billets..

If you really like the girth, then get roller buckles put on?

You have no worries. Keep your leather oiled and soft and you'll be just fine. I honestly don't care for roller buckles or even for the pins on any girth. I wish I could find a girth that isn't set up to be like a belt. We don't use the pin anyways, and that just makes it a risk. Hmmm I might go grind em off now that I think of it. They're all stuck in the down position anyhow.

GH- I never knew you could change the buckles. Even on an all leather girth without the elastic?

Phly- How do you put your girth on, if you're not using the buckles? O.o

I use the ring, but not the pins the go through the cinch strap. I do use the pin on the off side. I'll see if I have a picture. If not I'm sure lotsa folks will have.

When I ride western I use a "cowboy knot" since all of girths on the wstern saddles are too long for the horse! haha
Thanks for trying to help, I appreciate it!
