All that for a FREE lease? Good luck!

Wow, that wasn't nice! And it's worth a try!

Why a free lease? If you want to own a horse you should prepare to pay all the monthly bills that come with it.

Around here, a free lease means you pay for all of the horses needs, but not for the horse itself. So it sounds like this person is really just wanting to find a horse that they can try out for awhile and really get to know and be sure that its the right horse for them before making the commitment/purchase, which in my opinion is really smart, especially for a beginner looking for a confidence builder.

What is it exactly you want? Someone to let you take their horse off-site for your own use, and maybe buy it later on? As long as you're willing to sign a contract and take on all maintenance costs for the animal while you have it, that's not such a far fetched idea.

A free lease does include all the monthly bills that come with it, Sky.
Free lease is basically owning the horse without actually owning it on paper.

Basically..for her wanting to eventually own, she'd have the horse on her property and pay all bills, while also making a payment to the actual owners each month until the horse's price was paid off.

Iseul, doesn't look like she wants a lease to own, more like a free lease and then buy the horse later if she likes it enough to want to keep it.

Typically off-property leases are considered risky in our area and if the horse truly is a good beginner's mount there is a fee with the lease. Now I've seen free leases on not so good horses, or older horses that just need someone to lightly trail ride it once in a while and the owner wants someone else to pay for upkeep, or an occassional free lease set-up between friends. But letting the horse go on a free lease up to 400 miles away to someone they don't know? I really doubt the likely hood of that happening.

Now a "rent to own" type deal - that might be different if making payments towards the horse while its there.

It really depends on the location for what "free lease" would be. Here its paying for all the monthly upkeep, I.e. feed, carried, over and board (if its nor with the owner). Back home its pretty much the same and a payment per month to buy the horse later on(basically a lease De I'd you don't buy)

But idk about somebody just giving a horse for someone else to use while still paying for all he calls themselves.

It would help if the OP would elaborate on what kinda deal they're looking for
