Critique this mare's movement [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LQkTFOj3f4"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LQkTFOj3f4[/URL] Do you think she'd do well as a hunter? |
The horse is travelling off. I think its her right front but I'm not too sure. Also, the rider isn't doing her any favors. Why is she being ridden in a rope halter? She needs some balancing work. If you're planning to buy, get a PPE since she's not travelling consistantly and ask a lot of questions as to why she's not in a bridle. If you're just wondering if she'd be good at hunters, then I think so. She needs balancing work that the bridle isn't helping her with though...since there was no bridle. |
I thought I saw a flicker of offness, too. But I don't see it except from time to time. She does have rather wideset front legs. On the one hand, it looks like her elbow is very free (meaning able to move for/back/and off to the side), but it can also mean a bit of a rolling back and forth type of feel to her trot, as she moves from one front to the other, her shoulder drops on each side a fair amount. I like her vigor and she steps under nicely. worth investigating further, IMO. |
I can't see any lameness, could you point out where in the video it is? Is it just a few flickers of it or consistent? I do think she travels inconsistently, but I was chalking that up to maybe the footing or the lack of any contact with the rope bridle. |
What use are you getting her for? I quite like her. Perhaps a little toed in on the right front, but even does lateral work w/o a bridle (Why ridden in a halter? Mouth problems or??? And can you ride in a bitless/halters was as well?) |
