Ground cinnamon for laminitic horses?
Hi! I'm wondering if anyone puts ground cinnamon on their horses feed? I've heard it is high in magnesium and is helpful with laminitic horses. My gelding is periodically tender footed since a high fever during a bout with PHF years ago and when reading of cinnamon's benefits I did come across some statements relating to this. Any comments would be helpful, Thanks!
I've been reading more and more lately that cinnamon doesn't really do anything, apart from make the feed smell good. Magnesium instead is beneficial.
I have a link here, download the article mentioned and read it, very interesting findings.

Google Dr. Eleanor Kellon...she's a specialist in the area of laminitis/founder/metabolic syndrome. Last I read on her Yahoo Group (Equine Cushings/Insulin Resistance) they were not advocating using cinnamon.
