First tack swap... what do I do!?
So there is a local tack swap (which I hear is gonna be huuuuuge) and I am going to be selling some stuff for the festival. But... This is my first one, and I have no idea what to do! I'm not very tack savvy, so I worry about trades and such... My instructor can't make it, because our biggest advertising opportunity is the same day, at the St. Patty's parade. And by the time the swap ends, the parade will be long over...

Well, if you can measure the bits and mark that on them, this will help a lot. put the snaffles on one table and the curbs on another.
be sure that blankets are measured.
have some saddle stands available for people to try sitting in a saddle.
even photos of the tack on a horse that it fits well can be helpful, but not necessary.

be prepared for chaos, like a Department store on Christmas eve.!

Altho the name is Tack Swap, it's a misnomer as no one trades. They buy your stuff and if you get a chance to shop, you buy their's. It usually denotes used items altho more and more I'm seeing retailers with new stuff.

Take everything clean, measured, and clearly labeled with size, maker (if known) anything that will add value that you can fit on the label, as well as price. Know ahead of time what prices you will take for stuff, what is most negotiable and what is least. Decide what items you don't want to take home and come up with a plan on what to do if they don't sell. I usually donate useable stuff I don't want to a rescue after I offer it to a trainer friend(who is just starting out and needs stuff......)
