bareback riding help

So I can walk and trot bareback and was just wondering if anybody has some tips when it comes to loping and galloping :)

Relax your lower back and tilt your pelvis back as tho trying to sit on your back pockets. The gallop is rough and until you have the others down pat it's best to not attempt it.

hows your balance on the lope and gallop in saddle?

if you do good in saddle my tips are-- relax, but always be prepared-- keep the withers aligned with your belly button-- the horse's neck between your hands-- once you get your balance good, you'll be able to sit them well. i always keep my legs loose, but for the gallop, i would keep them tight enough to keep me on, but loose enough to not cue the horse.

the real way to get better is practice-- the more bareback riding, the better-- and if you can sit the choppiest trot, you should be able to keep your balance good at the lope.

the mane is really easy to grab onto-- i never grab it at the withers, always up more on the neck if i need to.

the most important thing is to always keep your core centered-- no matter what.

and enjoy the ride. :)

I never ride with a saddle unless I'm competing. My tips are to just move with the horse. Kind of rock with him when he lopes just like you move with him at the walk and trot. Don't become really stiff either as this will make you loose almost all you balance. If you start getting a little scared when you lope, sit back a little more (put more weight on your bum). Hope this helps!!

I am going to be doing a lot more bb riding. I really think it will help me with balance and my seat.

Sorta tricky bu it works.... Act like you have a saddle heels down and all of that good stuff thank squeeze with just ur upper thighs ...NOT WITH YOUR FEET!!!soon u will become relaxed and do it naturally

Ha, its funny, I posted a similar question several months ago. As most everyone is saying, just try to relax. I found it to be much easier then I thought, the thing holding me back was just my own nervousness. Also you could try putting a soft lead rope loosely around your horse's neck if it helps you feel like you have something to hold on to. Just relax, be confident, and move with your horse :)

I use an old stirrup leather as a neck strap and use that incase I need something to grab hold of... other than that, as everyone else has said just relax :)
