Tips for mounted games?
I'm entering the interschool mounted games day this friday with Marlea. The games will be things like bouncing pony, bending, flag race, egg and spoon, barrel racing, all that usual stuff.
Any tips? :)
If your horse is doing a lot of running be sure to keep him walking inbetween events to keep the lactic acid from building up in his muscles. Never mind if others sit/stand around and chat-do what's best for your horse.
Sorry I can't help much, I've only just started! I'll do my best though! For bending, be sure to pass the baton upright to the next person, and hold it at the bottom. Also turn tightly around the end pole :). For flag race, hold the flag near the top and have your first finger on the top of the flag, so that the flag becomes an extension of your arm. Steady your horse slightly to put the flag into the cone. When you bring the flag out of the cone, make sure to lift it up first to avoid knocking the whole cone over and bringing all of the other flags with it! Good luck and have fun - mounted games is amazing! ;)
