Back to Back Shows? Some scheduling help please :)
So I'm starting to put together my calendar for show season, and this is my first season where I am going for a high point award in my local H/J association. The shows I go to are (generally speaking) day shows (Sundays), and I'd probably show in 6-7 or so classes at each show (two divisions, two jumping and one flat class per division, plus maybe a jumper class). My first question is, is that too many classes or is that ok? I live in Maine so its not like its sweltering and deathly humid during the summer. My next question is, for those of you who show, how many shows do you go to per month? There are enough shows on the MeHJA's (Main Hunter Jumper Association) that if I had the inclination and thought it was fair to my gelding I could go to a show every weekend. But, I think this would be too much? How many shows a month do you think I could go to? I just have never shown 'heavily' or for points like this before.
I've had 2 shows in a row before, and my horse was fine. I would say use your own judgement, same with now many classes you want to enter (: if your horse is fit, and its safe to do alot, then go for it! Good luck!
