Apollo's first week home!
This was after the first time I longed Apollo. He was such a good boy, and perfectly behaved. He was so happy to be able to run around a bit. The pasture up here is still all muddy so the horses can't go out yet (they tear up the pasture).
Also.... I have a video of him rolling in the pen after our longing session. :)
Our walk today
We walked down to the river today. This was Apollos first time away from the barn and he was amazing!
One more. :)
So muddy! Lol
I can't wait for the ground to firm up! The outside arena is currently being used as a pasture for the inside horses because they tear up the real pasture too much in the winter. Want my arena back! Lol
He's such a pretty boy. You should be proud!

Yeah same here!
Poor guy he has never seen a pasture so my b/o let us run around a couple days. He was mud-sliding everywhere! He didn't know what to do with himself with so much room to run.
His balance seemed a bit off there. Have you looked in his ears ? I mean I wonder if his ears are itching.
He's super, super handsome and I bet he has an adorable personality. Watch out. if you haven't already, you're going to fall in love with him. don't let his cuteness factor stand in teh way of being a firm leader for him.
One thing I don't know if its bad or not is when he gets nervous he kinda leans on me.. I always pat him and let him know its safe and he stops. I haven't shoved him off though.
It's not when a horse isn't paying attention, stepping all over you and invading space, it seems like he wants reassurance when he see's something he weary about.
I've definitely never had this connection with a horse before. He is very in tune with me. When we are in the pasture I don't even use a lead he leads perfectly without one. I wouldn't trust him off lead not enclosed, but I am so amazed with his personality.
They swore up and down that no one has been able to work on his feet, and that he was very high strung.
It took me less than ten minutes to teach him to lift his feet for me. And now he doesn't care when I stretch his legs and clean his feet. The farrier will be here Thursday, so I guess that is the REAL test, but I just do not see this high strung beast they said. Even when I met him for the first time, he walked right to me and wrapped his neck around me. They claimed he didn't trust men, but he is very nice to my husband(even though the husband is scared of horses). :)
On the plus side, I have a trainer up the street who said if I need her she will take him to her barn for training. So if he ever decides to get to much for me I have a great resource ready to train him for me. Not too terribly high priced either! :)
In my opinion I think he just got away with things when he was younger and no one corrected him. But after one or two corrections he gives up and just goes with it.
Apollo is so handsome! I think it's wonderful you have such a connection with him. He seems to really trust you.
Oh my gosh he is too cute!
