Leather Conditioner

Hello.

I need to get a good leather conditioner for my saddle. I was wondering what brands you all recommend. I have heard black rock before, and Stubben. I just wanted to know what everyone here uses.

Thanks.

I use Leather CPR and love it. It cleans and conditions the leather which is really nice especially on a time scrunch.

Black Rock is great but a little expensive to do a saddle regularly. I like Hydrophane. It penetrates so well that you don't have to dismantle your bridle to get the leather coated. They make a regular and a darkening formula but even the regular will affect the color over time. One nice feature is that it won't rot your saddle's thread.

I use Black Rock as a topping to give my tack a nice patina.

I like to use just a regular glycerine bar to clean. I LOVE Hydrophane Leather Dressing for regular conditionings. For really parched leather I like Passier Lederbalsm. You can find both on Dover's web site.

I use leather balsam because it smells sooooo good! Here's a link if you don't know what it is: Effax Leather Balsam, effax leather feed, saddle conditioner,

I like it too, but if you use it too much, it can make your leather really SLICK! I found that out the hard way with my husband's older Stubben, lol. It was like riding on glass! Oops! :D I only use it now when the leather really needs it. Hydrophane conditions well and even waterproofs, and doesn't make the leather so slick ;). Nothing works better for really parched leather than passier lederbalsm though. It really restores the flexibility and luster to the leather, without over conditioning it.

Thanks guys. I'll have to look into some of these products. I want to keep my tack as nice as I can.
