Wool blankets made into saddle pads
Hello, I am new to the forum. I own thee horses. A QT mare, Palomino mix and a Morgan. I was given two wool twin size blankets and I was wondering if I cut them into 30x32 saddle pad size and if i sew them together would it be enough for a pad?

I would vote for "no".

At the price of a good wool blanket I think it would be better to keep them whole. Are they Hudson's or Whitney's or woolrich? Those are good blankets and would be a shame to cut those up.

I picked up a slightly shrunk Hudson's Bay blanket with a corner missing. I cut it up so it was 4 layers thick and sewed it togather. The wool goes next to the horse with a thin pad on top. My steal of a deal cost me 25c at a yard sale.

Good morning, these wool blankets were given to me with moth holes in them. So that's why I was thinking of cutting them and making them in to pads. So of I did see them up do you think they would need a pad underneath it? Or would it make a good saddle pad blanket?

depends on thickness. your looking for 3/4 to an inch thick compressed usually.
