Critique Topaz

I tried my best with the photos. My fiance can't hold him still and he can't take pics to save his life. :-(

What do you think? Any thoughts on breed? He didn't come with any real papers except a coggins that said he's 10 (vet, farrier and trainer say more like 19) and it said Quarter Horse but I don't know. Based on his confo what do you think he would be good at? I'm a blank slate, give me your ideas.

Looks like a Quarter Horse to me.
As for confo, he has a decent shoulder angle and though his neck is undermuscled, it is set relatively well
Short back and appears slightly bumhigh
Stands under himself, though more photos would help to rule that out...
Goose-rumped and has a steep slope to the croup
Hindquarters need muscle
again, stands underhimself quite a bit in the back legs aswell

He hasn't been worked at all other than some experimental lounging and walking. I'm getting a trainer out when the weather is warmer to work on schooling him (and me)

Thank you for the feedback, I'm hoping to get better photos soon but I got excited and wanted to post the ones I had.

Hes camped under-- i think it can be fixed with a proper trimming.. he is butt-high, but again i think its from his toes being really long.. id like to see him with a proper trim. :) he does stand wide in the back.. looks like a big ol fella.. pretty too. :)

OK, using the conformation tutorial, here are my observations.

Making the Square, I notice that Topaz is nearly square.
Body length 3in
line 1 1 1/8th
line 2 6/8th inch

Topaz shoulder to humorous is longer, without a protractor and a better sense of math I can't tell more.

Forearm 3/4th inch
Cannon 1/2 inch
Pastern 1/4th inch

thoughts on front legs Lengths seems good, percentages good. Angles ok.

Illium 1 inch
Femur 7/8th inch
Pelvis 7/8th inch

Thoughts: close, so close.

The photo keeps shrinking :-(
