How short should I pull my horse's mane?
Well I should basically say that I'm not actually pulling her mane, I'm using the back-comb and snip process of the SoloComb which is a mane pulling alternative. It doesn't quite thin the mane as much for those of you who don't know.

I was wondering how short I should go for my QH mane. Last year I went really short and by this winter it was grown out pretty far but I wasn't sure.

What are you doing with your horse?
For the hunter/equitation circuit you should be able to put your pinky on the top of the crest and have the mane end at your thumb.
Dressage usually needs long enough to braid it.

I agree with the above post, it depends on what you're showing. Usually you're safe with 3 1/2 to 4 inches, but certain braids require more. For banding, people usually go with 4 inches, but my horse's mane doesn't get banded, so I don't know for sure.

I would feel so bad pulling their manes! Don't hate- I know I'll have to do it some day too

Defietly depends on what you will be showing.
I usually pull them until they are 3 1/2 to 3 in long.
