Colt and Filly for Critique =]
Looking for some input from someone other than myself on these guys =]
The first is my 2011 model AQHA Buckskin colt, 'Buck'. Didn't get him to square up as much as I would have liked but these were taken in a snow storm =]
Sorry about this one, he grabbed the blanket off the fence and decided to play while I took his pictures
Second is Buck's half sister. 2011 APHA Palomino Roan Tobiano filly.
Not going to critique but you could sure send that colt to Alabama whenever you want! lol :D
The buckskin has a nice shouder angle
Neck seems to be set a little high
Hard to tell if it is just the way he is standing or if he is over at the knee...
Back is a good length
Steep slope to the croup but i dont mind his hindquarters at all
Hindlegs appear a bit on the posty side
The palomino has a very upright shoulder
Neck is set high
Good, deep chest
Nothing really wrong with the front legs
A little pigeon-breasted in my opinion
Back is borderline long but ok
again, steep slope to the croup but nicely forming hindquarters
appears sickle-hocked in the photos and slightly cowhocked
The palomino roan tobiano is gorgeous! I am not good a confo critics, so I won't but beautiful horses!
I kind of prefer the filly. Her neck does tie in high, but I like that, and it's a better length for her body. she's gorgeous.
Thank you guys! I have such a hard time picking apart my own horses with emotional attachment and all. xD I would like to dabble in halter this year but not sure either of them fit the bill. Although here in WY the local classes do not have very many actual halter bred horses. This of course won't be their career but until they are a little older light riding is all they are getting.
Would any of you show either in a halter class?
that colt is amazing i love him!
I found a little more square picture of Buck more to show leg set, I'm kinda standing over his barrel though. =]
Skip the halter classes because neither one is halter suitable....which is actually a GOOD thing! Both of them are built for performance which I'll take anyday over a halter horse. But, there's no reason you can't do showmanship to get them used to being at a show, gets them miles etc.
