Quick Question...........=] First of all, im probabley not going to get a horse anytime soon, but i still like to look. =] lol. Anyways, i would like to rescue a horse, that has been abused and such, he is georgous, and is very grren, but i was thinking about buying a green horse for a cheep price and training it myself, (and have help from a trainer) so i could have a great bond with him. He looks like he is in prefect healt, plus the price isnt all that bad. But my question is, how many of you had rescued a horse, and is it a good idea? .:Chelsea:. |
reply my aunt worked a lot with green horses and trained them herself. she didn't get an abused one though. i have heard from many people that abused horses take a long time to develop trust with a human, but they can prove to be very kind animals. but remember, i was also looking at abused horses for adoption and many organizations don't let you show the horse, so be careful. |
How experienced are you? Taking on a green abused horse should generally be left to professionals. I understand you want to find a deep bond, but this situation may ruin any outlook you have on horses, as well as get yourself seriously hurt. |
ummm....... I say go for it! i would spend time with him like walking him around before trying ANY training to make a small bond just remember it won't be easy but don't give up! You can do it! 8) |
depends on what kind of abuse the horse has been through. Abused horses can be difficult to work with because they get scared and a scared horse is a danger to itself and others. |
I have a good website for alot of retired horses other horses www.crossedsabers.com they have some nice horses for really reasonable prices |
