Blaze has arrived!
I'm going to make this short and sweet, because I was tired when I woke up this morning and am incredibly tired now. I met my BO after work and we drove to pick up Blaze. It took well over an hour to load him into her stock trailer. She was so good with him, patient and kind yet really firm when he was crowding her space. As soon as the door closed behind his butt I just went "WHEW."
The drive over was uneventful, and he actually unloaded really calmly despite his earlier pacing, circling and pawing in the trailer. I walked him around the small arena he'll be in for now, gave him some hay (which he would take mouthfuls of and trot around with), grain and water. He kept trotting around to check things out and listen, which I imagine he's still doing right now.
I didn't take any pictures, because by the time he finally loaded it was well after dark. I'm going out tomorrow night to clean the poop out of my BO's trailer and just spend some time with him. Pics to come soon!
His owners didn't give me as much of his feed as I thought they were so I have to scramble tomorrow to figure out what to do.
Excited yet exhausted :-)
i know that getting him there was a huge sigh of relief!
Yay!! So glad he finally arrived. Congrats! :D
Aw congrats!!! :D
Woo Hoo! You got him! I expect you are one very happy lady at the moment. :D
I cant wait to see new pictures of the handsome fella.
Thanks everyone! :D I wish it was the end of the work day already so I could go see him. The big dodo got some little cuts/scrapes on his nose from banging around in the trailer.
I'm trying to figure out how to get one of the feeds I want tonight so I can start transitioning him...
Congrats Missy! Glad to hear he safely made it home. You must just be on cloud nine now! Can't wait to see pictures!
I am on cloud 9. A little stressed over tracking down a feed today, but definitely excited to go groom and walk him around tonight. We do have some work to do-he's displaying some spacial/respect issues on the ground, but he's a really receptive and smart horse-he'll figure it out.
Congrats on your new addition!!
I'm glad that everything went smoothly for you and him :)
If I want to ever take him everywhere we have a lot of work on trailering to do (so if you gain any hot tips from working with Montana, let me know!)
