Trying to Get Into Natural Horsemanship College-Fundraiser
Hi all-this is going way out of my comfort zone, but the past couple of weeks has taught me that if you really want something badly, you have to do everything you can to get there. Anyways, for those of you who don't know me, my name is Jess, and I'm a level 3 Parelli student who aspires to become one of Pat's top instructors and a horse development specialist as my lifelong career. My original goal was to go after that dream this year and attend this year's Fast Track. Unfortunately, I was not able to procure the funds that I needed this year to be able to go. The other reason being that I have been struggling with my asthma reacting to the severe allergies that I have to everything I love-aka horses and everything involving the outdoors. I'm currently on a four year long allergy shot plan where I go in and get three shots a week (I'm the only person in my clinic who specifically special ordered horse allergens to be a part of their program). In a few months I'll be able to start spacing out the appointments so I won't have to go in weekly-and by next year I shouldn't have a problem going for an entire month in the Colorado atmosphere without needing the shots. The shots have been helping a lot-I'm now able to count on being able to go outside and play with horses daily without running into too much trouble asthma wise, unless the weather gets bad.
I'm currently working with five different horses, including my own. I don't actively charge for this, as I'm not a certified professional. I'm doing it for the experience I'll need to help my future students with their horses-if I only ever played with my own regularly, I wouldn't be able to help many people achieve their dreams with their horses as I have.
I'm also working 35-40 hours a week at the job I have at this point as a customer service person/cashier at a Mcdonalds near where I live. I'm grabbing the hours I can, and saving, saving saving. But I've also done the math and subtracted my horse bills, the like, ect, and I've realized that I won't be able to financially support attending next year's Fast Track either without help. Each horse pre-approved by their owners to have their progress publically displayed will have their own blog, and will be featured on said youtube channel. I'm not asking for a free ride, I don't want that. I want to work my tail off and earn it (otherwise it just wouldn't be worth it). But offering ideas, would be greatly appreciated.
