Latin and Ballroom Dancing

Does anyone else do any kind of latin and ballroom? I started last year at my uni's club, and I'm back again this year. I dance every Sunday night and it's great - so far, I know steps in:

Waltz
Foxtrot (only the basic)
Quickstep
Tango

Paso Doble
Rumba
Cha Cha Cha
Samba
Jive

I really want to learn to do the Viennese Waltz, and unfortunately I had to miss a session where we learnt the basics of the Argentine Tango.

My favourite dance is probably the Cha Cha Cha.

I wish I could! I would love to talk my husband into taking ballroom lessons with me, but I don't see that happening. LOL! I religiously watch all the dance shows that are out now. I just love to watch a pair of dancers who are really good at what they do.

Things like Strictly Come Dancing aren't real dancing; if you watch with a bit of knowledge you'll see that for nearly every round you don't get people doing actual steps. In the most recent series I watched four cha cha chas without a single cha-cha-cha step! They go straight into learning fancy moves that will impress the audience but then lose the actual spirit or theme or rhythm of the dance.

You don't need your husband to go with you :) I don't have a dance partner as I don't compete; I dance with all the guys there! Go along to some local lessons on your own - wear light, un-chunky shoes that are securely on your feet at first, e.g. a pair of slim trainers. It's great exercise and a lot of fun.
