Western Saddle Pads
What brand do you prefer? I am looking for a new pad and wanted some input on what people think is the best. Thanks :D

I prefer 100% wool about 1" thick and contoured. It offers the best wicking and shock absorption of any pad on the market. Here is a great article on pads: Saddle Pads and What Manufactuers Don't Tell You!

Over a lot of years and different horses and saddles, I've tried them all and always came back to wool.

I have a Skito Endurance pad. Its rounded though and I don't think they make a square one. I love it because I can take the pad/foam out and wash the outside. I don't know how many times I've washed it and it comes out looking brand new every time. Its pretty much the only pad I've used for several years.
My second favorite is an old mac/Cavallo all purpose pad I've had forever.
My husband is a pad junkie but his favorite is a classic equine impact gel contoured pad with wool top

I have four Skitos. They will make them in any shape you want! I like the 100% wool on the bottom. The foam inside is great for absorbing shock and circulating air.

I won't use neoprene or gel pads because of the heat build up you can get under them...

I have a ThinLine pad that I use over a 100% wool felt pad. It's great for shock absorbing and non-slip. ThinLine now makes a new felt combo pad so you don't have to use two.

Otherwise, I like just plain wool blankets or wool felt pads. The rest of the fancy pads I've tried really weren't worth the money!
