How to train the mane

The top 6 inches of my horses mane flips to his right side and the bottom stays to the left. I'm wondering if there is a way to train it to stay on the left? It is annoying and if I'm going to be showing I need to have it all on the one side. Any suggestions? Does braiding help??

I had a halflinger who's mane was split.....I just banded it to the "bottom" side really close to the base of the hair (no braids) ....it worked really well!!!....Braiding would also help :-)...but I didn't want his hair to be wavy

Yes braiding helps. I usually will braid, leave them in for a week, and then band for another week. With the more difficult manes, you may have to repeast the process from time to time.

Put MTG in it, then braid to whatever side you want it on! . I sprayed MTG, braided it, left it in for a week on a mare I ride, and it is still straight.
