What is your riding experience level ? Another thread got me interested in finding out what sort of experience we have on this site. (not looking at what level you consider yourself such as beginner, novice or advanced but what you have actually experienced). So for English What is the highest dressage level dressage you have ridden. What height have you jumped. What level equitation have you done. Any other English I may have not included. And Western Not as familiar with this discipline so you will have to fill in what is blank. What has been the highest rated show you have competed in. What disciplines and what levels. |
What about us lowly trail riders, shall we go by miles ridden, mountains climbed, rivers crossed? I'm not a competitive person which I'm guessing most milers are the same. I haven't kept track but I'm guessing at least 10,000 miles or more. crossed countess rivers but only climbed 2 mountains. |
eh I really don't fall under any of those.. I only do very low dressage to stretch the horse, after warming up, I don't jump, I don't compete in equitation, and I haven't yet gone in such an intense trail ride.. does that make me a complete beginner ? |
wow vida thats very cool!!!! i have completed the following: western pleasure, horsemanship, trail(class),barrels, poles, calf roping, break-a-way roping. english: jumped 4'8'', hunt seat equitaion, hunter undersaddle, attempted dressage but could not afford any more lessons(horsey ballet). all of this was accomplished on my paint gelding, who is now retired. |
Thats my total miles ridden not how far I've gone on one ride. I'd still be riding if it was all on one ride  Plus I'd have one heck of a sore butt. |
As an English rider (in another life) I jumped 4', did Hunter classes, and tried Fox Hunting for a time. As for Western (I switched about 25 years ago), I Team Pen, Sort, but mostly trail ride now. I would have no idea how many miles I've logged - what would you figure riding an average of 3 or 4 times per week and a lot of weekend trips over 25 years? |
