I hate shedding season

I just wanted to say I absolutely hate shedding season when it comes to Queen. No matter how much I groom her, she looks terrible for a long time. Especially if she is in the shade. She literally looks like she is going bald. It's only slightly better in the sun. At least you can see there is some hair there. At first I thought something was wrong with her, but after her doing this for 3 years, I now know its just her. I can't wait for her to finish shedding. Does anyone elses horse shed out like this?

Mine didn't appear to be shedding so I blithely offered a few chest scratches as they get so warm there when the sun shine. Like the small beginning of an avalanche, the hair started to let go, all over. Ptttew, ptttew, in my mouth, I was covered in it. Enuf, nature can take care of it.

Ugh I know just what you mean! Ollie has bleached hairs coming out everywhere! He has been shedding for over a month and I swear he's never going to have a short shiny coat!! I can groom for hours and hair just keeps coming out but looks no different! I mean A LOT of hair! I am using the curry comb and the dog shedding blade: The FURMANATOR! Hahaha he loves his grooming sessions, only I'm then covered in his hair! Gross! Next year he's getting a fully body clip, this is true non-sense!

I know the hair gets everywhere, but I find it strangely satisfying to groom out big hunks of old winter hair. I'm someone who loves to spend all kinds of time on grooming too, so shedding season just gives me one extra reason to keep grooming and grooming.

And grooming and grooming and grooming ;)

My arms where so tired after our grooming session yesterday!
I had five metal huge very thick handfuls of hair by the end!

There's a Shire, a Gypsy and a Haffie at the stables I volunteer at. Each time I groom them, I could literally make a large cat/small dog out of their hair.
The other day I heard another volunteer say, "Who got polar fleece on my horsehair jacket?" :D
Oh well. I could groom forever, even in the wintry-spring, so I don't really mind.

Love my vacuum! I bribe a friend to suck up the hair as I furiously curry- with 15 therapy horses on the list, it sure reduces the amount of time I spend doing it :)

I start out feeling really productive when I groom them him, and get whole bags full of hair... but he never seems to look different! But I do feel productive anyhow! Of course the downside is I have the only white horse in the barn, so if I dont clean up well when Im done .. EVERYONE knows who's mess it is!
