Pygmy Goats

I've been wanting one for years, but I've never owned any type of goat in my life. What's the basic care for them? What should you feed them? How much do they cost? My friend has one, but she lives 6 hours away, so I really can't remember what and how much she fed her. I'm pretty sure she said she fed her around 1/2 flake of grass hay and a handful of pellets? Not sure though.:???:

That's a neat goat Jen. I love goats. We've had them a few times over the years but they always manage to get out and eat Christmas lights or flowers or something else that they're not supposed to - so away they go.

LOL... I want a go SOOO bad. Hubby keeps reminding me that I won't have anything left after the goat eats it ALL! Maybe one day!

Thanks Bill! You sound like my husband. That's why I only have one left. We had three, but when they ate the burning bushes he planted by the house he had had it! One of them, though, had gotten aggressive with the girls so I was okay with him going. I just can't give up Domino. :D

They're so fun, Amy! But, yes, they are destructive. My daughter had to tell one of her teachers that her goat ate her homework. lol!

Would it be alright if I only got one goat?
He would live at the place I board at. There's a little pony stall that is just waiting for me to put a goat in there. =P I'd probably make a little pen for him outside and possibly keep him with one of the miniatures for company? My friend who has a pygmy goat had it to keep her horse company after her pony died, and she couldn't get another horse right away. She also would keep her on a dog line (one of those things you push in the ground and tie your dog to) because she kept getting out of her pen. They would only do this when they were home and outside, so she was never alone for long. But I still wonder if that's safe... :???:

Aw, your goats are so cute, FancyAppy! I agree with everything you said, too. I just wish I could convince my husband how great they are. lol!

WTWB, if you had a mini to keep with the goat, getting one would be fine. I've just got the one now and he's perfectly happy with the horses and all the other critters we have.
