My summer project
Alrighty. Since I can't be the only one with two expensive hobbies on here, and I generally dislike fish forums, I'm going to start this here.

My summer project, other than working more with Aires, is going to be to get a couple of my fish tanks up and running again. I currently have four tanks, but none of them are running.

First and most important to get going is my "new" (to me) 75 gallon. I got this tank by default when my boyfriend's brother's renters were evicted and left it in the house. It's a very nice tank and came with a nice stand, but both need some work. The tank needs a thorough, deep cleaning (it was left to sit for over a month and the water evaporated, so there's hard water deposits all over the glass) and the trim is light oak, which I hate, so I'm going to paint it black. The stand is blue right now, but the paint job is kinda crappy, so I'm going to paint it, but I'm not sure what color(s) yet. Our living room is done in black, dark reds and gold, but the couch is chestnut leather. There's also a door on the stand that needs to be fixed.

Second is my 20 gallon long. Both tank and stand are black. The tank needs to be cleaned, though (again with the hard water deposits). I'm debating letting my boyfriend "have" this tank to 'scape and stock.

Anyway, I'll put pics of both up, as they sit, tonight, along with descriptions of how I want to 'scape and stock at least the 75, as well as what equipment I have for both.

Have fun. I am envious. I have two tropical aquariums, two paludariums, and one vivarium that will eventually house a trio of Poison Dart Frogs. I am getting antsy about setting up a new aquarium in the 55-75 gal range. I want to stock it with Australian Rainbows. That will have to wait until next spring I think.

I really want a big tank (120gal+), but my boyfriend put his foot down and said not until we have our own place. Lol

I have a custom built 135 gallon that I had built. It's awesome. Having the width (2 foot) gives so many more options and I find it very visually pleasing vs the standard narrow tanks.

These are seriously horrible pics, but the 75 is in a room that is crowded with junk (my boyfriend's mom's junk) and the 20gL is semi-buried under Christmas stuff that we don't have a home for yet. Lol.

The 75 (the stand is facing the wrong way, so you can't see the front...the front has two doors):

The 20gL:

As far as 'scape ideas in the 75, it's going to be very natural.

Substrate: Miracle Gro Organic potting soil topped with black sand
Decor: Driftwood and rocks
Live plants: The list is too long! Lol
Filtration: Cascade 1000 canister filter
Lighting: Current NOVA 108W T5HO fixture with one 10K bulb and one daylight bulb

As far as stock, I'm thinking:
Pair of silver zebra angelfish
10 red serpae tetras
10 cardinal tetras
8 sterbae cories
1 male bristlenose pleco
1 featherfin catfish
1 South American bumblebee catfish
