Nothing much coming up, you're right.
I found the " early" 800 models are all endurance. The other 800 series one I found is the 839, it's a reiner, but a new model.
Sorry if this is no help.......
Thanks for looking. Weird, I cannot find ANYTHING on it. I know that it is older. Went ahead and looked at it, picked it up and I'm not in love with the fit but its honestly better than anything else we've tried on this darn horse.
Ha, my very first western saddle was very similar, it was a Big Horn, a barrel racer, roundskirt, same tooling pattern, cantle with the silver, same conchos, just dark oil. That was late 80's.
It fit my old type, big boned TB beautifully.
I now have a model 1642, flex tree, for my 16.3hh appendix, fits him like a glove.
Yours: could be a bit more room at the withers, for my taste. Unless it's bridging somewhere, it should be alright. The build up would disturb me, I like deep dressage style seats.
Looks in decent shape.
The styling cues (rider and built-up "equitation" seat, plus white buckstitching and the lighter brown color, single "California" skirt) look like early '70s to me. The color might have been darker brown at one time. Those old saddles tend to pale-out with age unless someone dyes them dark again. It probably never was dark chocolate, but might have started out as a medium-dark brown.
