Halter for the beginner :)
Wow! It's been a long time since I've posted on this forum. I'm happy to say I'M BACK! :P

I have a three year old colt I would like to get into a few halter classes. I would like to show in a class that he could potentially earn a few AQHA points. I'm totally new to showing halter and would like to hear any suggestions or tips anyone might have.

I don't plan to show halter all the time. My main goal is to get him out and about while maybe earning a few halter points. I can fit him for show pretty good. I don't plan to cut his mane (not sure if that matters). He shines up really nice though.

One question I had: Do I need to be part of a local AQHA Club to show AQHA? Can I show without a club membership and if so, what kind of things/paperwork do I need to have or be signed up for?

My horse is also NFQHA Registered. I'm not sure if I should look into showing with them or if they even put on shows??

I'm located in the Spokane, Wa area :)
