15HH Beautiful Jumper/Dressage in BC, Canada
Cocoa is a 15hh, Quarter Horse cross mare who is elegantly put together for her breeding. Cocoa is an absolute sweetheart and aims only to please. She was raised as a jumper and a definite talent was discovered in this little mare. She has impressive abilities while on a course, making impossible jumps and turns look easy. Cocoa has stunned and impressed many coaches with her jumping skills and definitely surpasses my skill level in that area. Above all this, however, is her calm and loving attitude toward people. I used her as a lesson horse a couple of years ago and discovered her gentleness toward younger children, almost protecting them.
She ties beautifully, standing quietly for hours if required, and trailers equally well. The farrier loves her calm attitude toward hot shoeing—she would on fall asleep in the warm summer sun. She does not spook easily, making her a relaxing ride on the trails or roadside. Cocoa is a horse who wants to trust, and once that trust is developed she will not question you with anything and will trust you completely.
As unlikely as this seems, in all the years she’s been with me, Cocoa has never been lame, no matter the circumstance. She’s a hardy thing and has exceptional health. As for her looks, she is a stunning dark bay colour, no markings other than the star on her forehead shaped similarly to a “hounds tooth”. Her tail is to die for—thick, long and a beautiful jet black.
She ideally needs a home where is a coach is present. Or with a rider who has some experience. She has a lot of dressage experience on her and professional training. Needs a rider with soft hands as she has a sensitive mouth. Responds well to leg as I use very little rein in my training. I am a dressage rider so her lateral and muscle training is all correct. She bends and gives to contact well. She is schooling at heights of about 3’ - 3'6". I fell in love with this mare in these years of riding her and it was a very difficult decision for me to part with her. Unfortunately, I will be leaving for university in the fall and sadly need to downsize. Selling has always been difficult for me, I tend to get attached to my horses and never want to see them go, which made my decision that much more difficult. All I can hope for Cocoa now is a loving home where she can do more than what she is doing now. I feel that with a talented rider who will spend the time with her, she could really go somewhere!
