Curbed Hock Advice.
My mare in early Feb gained trauma to her hock region in a fencing incident. She's had a few things to help her along such as booting and linaments, and recently was told by the very experienced person who has been watching over her injury progress that I could return to riding as the entire site area has drastically gone down and she's sound again. Been doing so on short walk rides (two days on, one day off), but just wondering what kind of things I could be more aware of over the course of the remaining healing process. Everything I've read online seems to vary, some say it should be closely monitored by a vet and ultrasounds, and others say it's something that requires rest followed with a good and careful fitness routine. Honey hasn't shown any signs of discomfort under saddle, quite frankly she's happy to be back into the swing of things, even if it's only 10-15 mins max atm.

Since it's my first time with this kind of injury, I'm trying to use common sense, but also thought to reach out for information that others may have. Should I keep at a walk for the next month-6 weeks with just increasing the riding time up to 25mins by the end of it (giving we're going into winter, I doubt I'll be able to get more than 20-25min rides in anyway). Or should I be looking at strengthening exercises with short bursts of trots in about a month's time? I really suck at judging this, haha!

Thanks in advance for any info :) Can get a photo of the leg tonight too if anyone wants visuals.
