Behavior after moving barns

We just moved two mares from one barn to another.
Prior to the move the mares did not care for one another, but were turned out in the same herd, and stalls were nowhere near each other.
Since the move, the mares get very upset (calling/anxious) if they are separated. They are now stalled across the aisle from one another, as well as turned out together. They can see other horses from their pasture, but are not pastured with any other horses. They are getting difficult to lead or separate even for short periods.
I expected an adjustment period (it has been about 9 days), but not sure how long, or how we can help them other than what we are doing.

What we are doing is keeping a consistent schedule, expecting decent ground manners correcting when necessary with circling, backing (which has never been an issue until now), talking in soothing tones when they start to get upset.

Any other suggestions, Ideas, or words of wisdom?

well, i was always told if you had two horses that didn't like each
other to take them on a trailer ride together. sounds funny, but it works

they know each other and bonded to each other for support and
now they are in a new place they are depending on one another
they are their own little herd now.

you took the words out of my mouth...lol. My two mares didnt like each other very well and after a weekend show and a long trailer ride they were best friends. Like mentioned they kinnda knew each other and now that they have been moved togther they look to each other. It might take some time and getting them to be independent again might be a challenge, best of luck to ya!!!
