Thinking about using Annie as a trick pony...
We wouldn't be doing the "hardcore" stuff like rearing or anything, just more simple things like smile or shake...I'm only thinking of doing this because she's most likely "up there" in age, and it might be harder to train/retrain her for riding (especially since she gets freaked out if she see's anything with more straps than a halter). What tricks would you suggest? Have you taught tricks before? How did you do it? What works best for you? I was going to put this in Horse Training, but for some reason HF won't load a bunch of different pages...I was pretty suprised that it loaded this. ANYWAYS! Thank you in advance for any tips/suggestions!

you could try teaching her to count to like would just have to come up with a sutle cue to paw with the hoof. Once she understood the cue you could ask her what 2+2 was then cue her each time till she reached 4.

Oooh, never thought of counting! Great idea!

What about bowing? I've seen that done and think it's cute :)

I was kinda thinking about that one to (: Ooh! And hugging!

Awww! When you get some of this perfected I think a video of her hugging you would be the bees knees :P

Definatly! I was teaching a (it wasn't mine and I didn't know the owner, but he's so sweet!) horse to smile before and I had to stop myself and say this isn't your horse...Your probably shouldn't train it...XD

Starting with the smile...She's suprisingly a fast learner!

You could teach her how to kick a soccer ball back to you too.

I need to get one that my dog hasn't torn up or hid...Lol. I think I have an old jolly ball somewhere...
I got Annie to do a "big girl" smile! I'm proud of her!
